- Electric Aspirin
Until now, researchers are still not sure about the cause of migraine. In certain circumstances, the intensity of these headaches increases with the passage of time without a cure. As a result, doctors are forced to give powerful dose of aspirin, which often causes serious side-effects. Recently, a firm from California, Autonomic Technologies, has introduced electronic Aspirin, which is a small device that can be implanted easily inside the human jaw to block the pain-causing neurotransmitters. Unlike many other medical implants, the small electric Aspirin implant is effective because it can be safely taken out of the jaw during medical emergencies and checkups. Whenever, a patient feels the onset of the headache, they can activate the electric Aspirin through a remote control, which sends the signal to the device to block SPG nerve signals that cause severe headaches and migraines. In fact, any side-effects of such implants are almost negligible compared to the side-effects of regular medicine and powerful drugs. Hopefully, these implants can provide a safe and painless method of dealing with severe headaches until scientists can find a solution for migraine.
- Needle-Free Diabetic Care
For diabetic patients, one of the most painful procedures is the regular insulin shots that increases the risk of infection due to regular poking. Besides pain, such instruments are also prone to cause disease and side-effects. Echo Therapeutics, a California based company, has introduced a needle-free biosensor that can detect the sugar level inside the blood without inserting countless needles inside the human skin. The device contains a toothbrush type of device, which takes out a sample of the human skin by removing a minute layer to scan the blood sample. Interestingly, the patient feels a tingling sensation, which is enough to collect an accurate reading, better than the normal procedure of taking multiple insulin shots with the needle.
